The trouble with templates is that they are abstractions, and not fit for purpose. The key is to adapt and adopt the elements that make sense, as the scale, applicability and context differ.

ESG as an Ethics Filter
The recent critique of #ESG in the current circumstances of armed conflict and consequent spiraling of oil prices leading to inflation and impact on the wallet is not now as secondary concerns such as climate might not be clear and present danger for many countries and communities. Climate Change is a scalar matter with incredible contextual specificity. Companies and communities in the direct line of the just transition narrative will be first movers.
ESG is the riskfication of the sustainable development paradigm which has been around since Rio- that is three decades back. ESG is an instrument towards a just transition, a framework which works as a pragmatic ethics filter. The error is in the over expectation of a tool, rather than embedding it in popular culture and making it nonnegotiable. #climatechange#sustainabledevelopment#culture#oil#ethics
ESG as Planetary Risk Politics
#ESG attempts to be global by staying away from politics, however there are inherent epistemic anchors in Eurocentric logics, many of them are generative frames in social and ecological justice. The local texture needs to be considered too.
Sociotechnical Resilience in the WFH era
I just experienced an ‘infrastructural turn’ with my broadband provider going off the grid for 24 hours in Navi Mumbai and I realize the value of ‘sociotechnical resilience’ (Amir & Kant 2018) in the WFH era. It was productive as i wrote two thousand words for work.
Just Transition Notes.
Just Transition is the conceptual cartilage between carbon and community. Transitions are an imaginary which need to be populated with either soulless tech talk or with an ethic of social justice where communities are front and center of the dialogue where worker voices and aspirations find a place in the strategy decks of consulting firms.
Photos as Fragments.
Old photos are the fragments of lives lived within one life. Facebook memories can evoke warm feelings and reminders of past versions of the self. Hard copy photos are the best.
Back to Writing.
Non Linear Career
The number of risks i have taken in my nonlinear career can safely categorize me as near entrepreneurial and the failures are data points in an algorithm called life. And have many more experiences than YouTube Life Coaches.
Adhaan.
Have been really blessed to be listening to the Azaan or Aadhaan on both Eid days from Masjid Sultan on Muscat Street here in Singapore this year, and last year too. Was really a major goosebump moment as i grew up in Muscat next to three Masjids. #eidaladha2022
Momos in the Heartland.
Asking for momos in a Nepalese eatery in the Singaporean heartlands in Hindi, a mature estate is a presence of a South Asia which is present but hardly seen.
