Thank you very much for the opportunity Prof Koel from my undergraduate alma mater BIT Mesra (i studied at their Oman Campus) to share my two cents on a relevant scholarly intervention.


The gulf migration story needs to be contextualised, with a labor history perspective. The point which needs to be considered is why haven’t migrants unskilled to meet the change, rather than bank on a perennial job in the Gulf?
The writing has been on the wall for a decade post Arab Spring, Nationalisation programs, 2014 oil crash etc.
Why do people cry after the train wreck waiting to happen has hit them ?
Dr. @Dr_Ulrichsen spoke on the Qatar Crisis with Prof @SinGulfura and Prof @abaabood at @MEI_NUS in a much awaited talk. Pandemic, Economic contraction and the Geopolitics of the region makes this conversation much needed.
